Think Tank Review – Special Issue July 2016 – UK referendum

Welcome to the special issue of the Think Tank Review on the UK referendum, compiled by the EU Council Library (click to share on Twitter).

This is the second time that the UK has held a referendum on Europe. The first was in 1975, barely two years after accession. That time, ‘yes’ won with 67.2%.

On 23 June 2016, following an intense and passionate campaign, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. The Leave camp won by 51.9%, although there were significant differences accross the country. The referendum turnout was 71.8%, with over 33 million people voting.

This special issue  provides links to both the full text and a short abstract of all the papers on the UK referendum published by major international think tanks between February and June 2016.

As always, feedback is welcome library@consilium.europa eu.  The next standard Think Tank Review will be out in July 2016, with papers published in June 2016.
